National Reconciliation Week 2021

About NRW

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our Initiative

We are currently looking for any pieces that focus on the deep or recent histories of Indigenous Australia. These could be pieces that celebrate First Nations culture, stories and resistance or reflect upon Australia’s colonial history of genocide, dispossession and racism.

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme is “More than a word. Reconciliation takes action.” This may guide the piece you choose.

Pieces do not have to be written in the style of an academic history essay. Chariot accepts most formats including short stories, poems, articles, commentaries, reviews, visual art etc. Written pieces should be no more than 2,000 words long (but you can work with your editor to cut it down if need be) and must have an accompanying bibliography.

To submit, please email your piece(s) to before 6th May 2021.
